Politics and Implementation of Policy-Fall 2012

Course Outline:

This course will teach students to examine the processes for generating a positive organizational climate. The process that is necessary to develop and receive approval for policy recommendations will be analyzed as it pertains to social agencies in the public and private sectors.

Students will develop specific strategies to obtain voter approval for bonds and budgets as well as other referenda. The students will understand the role, relationships and responsibilities of the organizational hierarchy as it relates to politics and policy development.

Key Concepts:

Examine interest groups, coalitions, conflict and strategies for conflict management in the political arena of social organizations.

Examine raw data from 165 anonymous school board members regarding their governing practices, teamwork and sense of effectiveness.
